I believe that providing for the national defense is a charge given to Congress explicitly in the United States Constitution

I am committed to keeping America's national defense capabilities strong. As a senior member of the House Armed Services Committee, I have worked to ensure the resources and technologies are available to support the mission of our men and women in uniform. Our nation's financial situation has required us look with earnest toward to cut government spending and reduce the size of government. However, as we work through that process, I believe that providing for the national defense is a charge given to Congress explicitly in the United States Constitution and I will continue to be a strong advocate for the men and women in uniform that pledge all in defending our freedom.
